  All you need to know. SRSLY.



Very first thing you should do in Minecraft, is of course, build a house. Period. No exceptions. Unless of course your a fan of dying, in which case, go right ahead and don't bother listening to anything I have to say from this point on.

GAME OVER. And you only scored &e0. That's just sad.

So, lets assume you've figured out how to create a world. Then you spawned somewhere, somewhere new, somewhere magical! But of course your lost. and stuck. And it is slowly becoming night time. So first thing you need to do is, like the oh-so-friendly text mentioned above, you must build a house. Luckily you have this handy dandy tutorial to help you. So first, clear out a space NEAR (not on or above) your spawn point. by clear, i mean remove the sand/dirt blocks that are around so that you have a relatively clear area to build you house from. Next, you need to gather some wood. (If you don't know any of these basic functions of Minecraft, refer here http://lifetutorials.blogspot.com/2011/06/all-you-need-to-know-about-minecraft.html) and while you are gathering wood, keep a look out for coal. Coal is usually near mountainous areas, with walls of rock above ground. Coal looks like this....

That'd be the black stuff.

When you've gathered 10 pieces of wood, then you need to take the wood and craft it into planks. To do that, simply place the wood block into your crafting area, and you will get 4 planks. Continue right clicking until you are holding all of the planks. Then take 4 planks and fill up the crafting area with them to make a crafting table.

Once at the crafting table, you will be presented with a three by three grid, as shown above. take a few planks and place them one on top of the other to create sticks.

Stick.

After you have made a few sticks, place 3 planks on the top row, then two sticks in the middle below the planks. this creates a pickax.

Use this pickax to mine stone, which will in turn give you cobble stone. Use this cobble stone to create a stone pickax, and a stone ax.

You can now gather wood at a much faster rate. This is essential as you have a limited amount of time before it turns dark.


When you have approx. 64 pieces of wood, and any amount of coal, hopefully around 5 or more, then you can begin building your house. take your wood and create as many planks ass you can with them. Then, in that clearing you had made in the begging, start to place down blocks of wood. Leave one square empty, that is going to be your house. A good sized house is 5x5. once you have made the first row, do the exact same on the second row. Then a third row, but the difference is that on this row, the area you left open for you door, close it up so that there is a 1x2 hole in your wall. If you want, you can do a fourth row, the same as you did the third, but remember you are racing against time here. Once you have made you walls as high as you've wanted, close the area off by adding a roof. You'll notice it is a little darker now that the sunlight is not getting through. That is why you gathered coal. On your workbench, or in your inventory grid, put coal on top of a stick to create 4 torches. You can then put one torch on each wall, which should be enough to light your starter house. Place your workbench inside, or make a new one if you've lost yours. Then, take 6 planks and fill up the first two thirds of the 3x3 grid.

Use wood.

If done correctly, this should create a door. To place the door, simply place the door in your quick slot, stand outside and face inside, and right click the empty square. to open a door, simply right click. and there you have it! A perfect little house for you to live in. Or rave. Whatever you want. And tada! Now you can survive the night.
